Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day
Celebrating 10 years of Hope and Healing
History in the making...
Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day was born from a deeply personal place — a place of heartbreak, silent suffering, and ultimately, fierce hope. Founded by Christina Renee, Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day was initially created to expose the unedited version of infidelity. Christina was frustrated by the way infidelity was often glamorized in mainstream culture. She was disgusted by marriage counseling and devastated by how churches, family, friends, and even the justice system dismissed the depth of infidelity. She longed for a space where she could be seen, heard, and understood. As a result, naively yet boldly, Christina founded Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day (formerly known as Infidelity Speaks Awareness Day).
Ten years ago, I asked everyone to show up in yellow, and a yellow ribbon was cut. That simple act marked the beginning of a movement grounded in hope, courage, forgiveness, vision, and the belief in a new tomorrow. It was a declaration — a stand to shine a light on the hidden reality of infidelity. It was about breaking the silence and giving a voice to the devastation that infidelity leaves behind. It was a day to talk about the unpopular side of infidelity.
In the beginning, Christina’s heart dreamed big. She believed that if we raised enough awareness, if we told the truth loudly enough, maybe we could eradicate infidelity. Christina was hopeful to a fault; she thought that if she had healthy conversations with enough people, she could save marriages. Nonetheless, through her own healing and walking alongside others navigating this unique, often invisible pain, she embraced the fact that while she can’t control the actions of others, she is committed to supporting those on their healing journey and helping them break free from the chains of infidelity. Today, as I reimagine Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day in its 10th year and beyond, my vision is to build a global movement that breaks the silence, raises awareness for a pain too often dismissed, misunderstood, or ignored, redefines what healing really looks like, and empowers those rising from infidelity to take their power back.
